The healing power of colloidal silver
Hippocrates already recommended silver water. / Source: Public domain, Wikimedia Commons (PD)
Historical useHippocrates, a pioneering physician from ancient Greece, already recommended silver for the treatment of wounds. Silver water was used for him in ancient Egypt. In the Second World War soldiers' wounds were covered with silver foil to prevent disinfection. In the past, colloidal silver was used as a medicine for syphilis, gonorrhea, thrush, epilepsy and wound infections. When penicillin was invented with antibiotics, that use faded into the background. Now that we know that penicillin does not offer an overall solution, since bacteria can become resistant, the old antibiotics regain popularity. There are various vegetable antibiotics such as garlic, onions and East Indian cherry. In addition, there are non-vegetable agents such as silver water or colloidal silver and colloidal gold. Silver is a means against which microbes can also become resistant at a given moment. That is why it is good to use silver water temporarily, but not permanently.
External, not internalColloidal silver is currently used externally, but not as often internally. Externally it can be done on burns. The Dutch Wikipedia site is negative in terms of colloidal silver. A completely different story can be read on the German Wikipedia site than on the Dutch Wikipedia. Work against viruses is seen in Germany. The silver molecules attach to viruses, suppressing the viruses. On

In various countries, it may no longer be sold as medicine but is sold under other pretexts.
A harmless but nasty side effectBe careful with this medicine because it has side effects. Not that you can get a serious disease from it, but it can cause you to never have a recovering skin discoloration. For that matter, you have to use large amounts of contaminated colloidal silver for years. But there are people who have done that. They look blue gray for the rest of their lives ... or actually silver. That is because, unlike pure silver, contaminated silver molecules (silver chloride) do not leave the body quickly. It can accumulate under the skin and cause discoloration there, according to the same principle with which a film roll is developed.
Silver water is water with very fine silver molecules. This silver water is used in creams, soaps and lotions for external use.
Antibacterial effectAmerican scientific research from 2013 shows that colloidal silver has a broad antibacterial effect and a specific anti-fungal effect on some fungi. This has proved that the traditional use of silver water or colloidal silver has a useful function.
Medical employabilityOne scientific study is known that could not prove the efficacy of silver water. This is a study from Botswana which was carried out by three people and therefore not very reliable. Because it can no longer be an official medicine, it is rarely investigated. According to users, colloidal silver is active at:
- Stomach problems,
- Colds and flu
- Throat problems,
- Mouth ulcers,
- Gum infections,
- Chronic fatigue,
- Irritable bowel syndrome,
- Bladder infections,
- Eye infections,
- Weak allergies
- Itchy skin
