The healing power of colloidal silver

The cowboys in the wild west always had a silver coin in their pocket that they boiled with the water when they started making coffee. A few silver molecules ended up in the water as a result of the boiling. It was noticed that people who did this had a strong resistance. In the past, the antibacterial effect of silver water was widely known. By getting a little silver you can stay free of diseases for longer. It has a harmless but very annoying side effect; using too much contaminated silver water can lead to permanent skin discoloration.

Historical use

Hippocrates, a pioneering physician from ancient Greece, already recommended silver for the treatment of wounds. Silver water was used for him in ancient Egypt. In the Second World War soldiers' wounds were covered with silver foil to prevent disinfection. In the past, colloidal silver was used as a medicine for syphilis, gonorrhea, thrush, epilepsy and wound infections. When penicillin was invented with antibiotics, that use faded into the background. Now that we know that penicillin does not offer an overall solution, since bacteria can become resistant, the old antibiotics regain popularity. There are various vegetable antibiotics such as garlic, onions and East Indian cherry. In addition, there are non-vegetable agents such as silver water or colloidal silver and colloidal gold. Silver is a means against which microbes can also become resistant at a given moment. That is why it is good to use silver water temporarily, but not permanently.

External, not internal

Colloidal silver is currently used externally, but not as often internally. Externally it can be done on burns. The Dutch Wikipedia site is negative in terms of colloidal silver. A completely different story can be read on the German Wikipedia site than on the Dutch Wikipedia. Work against viruses is seen in Germany. The silver molecules attach to viruses, suppressing the viruses. On

the English Wikipedia site states that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that infections in people using a catheter decrease in frequency and severity. Urinary tract infections are a common consequence of inserting a catheter.
In various countries, it may no longer be sold as medicine but is sold under other pretexts.

A harmless but nasty side effect

Be careful with this medicine because it has side effects. Not that you can get a serious disease from it, but it can cause you to never have a recovering skin discoloration. For that matter, you have to use large amounts of contaminated colloidal silver for years. But there are people who have done that. They look blue gray for the rest of their lives ... or actually silver. That is because, unlike pure silver, contaminated silver molecules (silver chloride) do not leave the body quickly. It can accumulate under the skin and cause discoloration there, according to the same principle with which a film roll is developed.
Silver water is water with very fine silver molecules. This silver water is used in creams, soaps and lotions for external use.

Antibacterial effect

American scientific research from 2013 shows that colloidal silver has a broad antibacterial effect and a specific anti-fungal effect on some fungi. This has proved that the traditional use of silver water or colloidal silver has a useful function.

Medical employability

One scientific study is known that could not prove the efficacy of silver water. This is a study from Botswana which was carried out by three people and therefore not very reliable. Because it can no longer be an official medicine, it is rarely investigated. According to users, colloidal silver is active at:
  • Stomach problems,
  • Colds and flu
  • Throat problems,
  • Candida,
  • Mouth ulcers,
  • Gum infections,
  • Chronic fatigue,
  • Irritable bowel syndrome,
  • Bladder infections,
  • Eye infections,
  • Acne,
  • Weak allergies
  • Itchy skin

Silver water is not a hoax

Despite thorough research, there are all kinds of sites on the internet that claim that the use of silver water is a hoax. In that case this hoax has been going on for thousands of years. It is haughty to assume that people used medicinal products that had no effect before; they also saw that it was healthy to use silver water. The opponents of silver water point to argyria. That is the most serious side effect of using contaminated silver water. If silver water is not pure, silver chloride is formed. Silver chloride can cause argyria but pure silver water cannot. Argyria is a nasty condition. This is a serious and permanent form of skin discoloration, but argyria has no health disadvantages. The American National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine attempts to put silver water in a bad light but as sources they use only the scientifically recorded cases of argyria. Even this national institution is not aware of the fact that there is a big difference in pure silver water and silver chloride. Incidentally, in the U.S. Silver water is used annually by 10 million people and there are 239 cases of argyria in it worldwide, most of them from the 60s and 70s when too much contaminated silver water was made. There are countless medicines on the market with deadly side effects that nobody complains about. On the WikiAnswers site you can read that paracetamol alone kills 236 people every day. Paracetamol is much more dangerous than colloidal silver.

Silver water side effects

Silver water can accumulate in organs such as the kidneys, liver, spleen and nervous system with prolonged use. Excessive use can lead to nervous system disturbances, taste disturbances, upper abdominal pain, cramping disorders and argyria or blue discolouration. It is therefore advisable to limit the use of colloidal to a minimum.
